Studied in Torino with E. D'Ovidio and F. Faà di Bruno and graduated in 1883. Taught geometry in Torino since 1888.
C. Segre, with E. Bertini, may be considered as the founder of Italian school of algebraic geometry. He was also a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.
