Arturo Maroni

(Firenze 1878-1966)


Studied in Pisa with E. Bertini and L. Bianchi and graduated in 1901. For many years he was a teacher in Italian high schools. In the thirties, under the influence of F. Severi, he began again to do advanced research in algebraic geometry and finally, in 1934, he won a chair in geometry in the University of Florence .

His studies on algebraic ruled surfaces are well known.
