He studied with Bertini and De Paolis in the "Scuola Normale Superiore" of Pisa , where he took his degree in 1886. For a long time he was a teacher in secondary schools. In 1906 he became professor of projective geometry. He taught in Genova (since 1906) and in the new University of Firenze (since 1925), where, with G. Sansone, he contributed to the establishment of the department of mathematics.
